Location

Located along the western shore of Lake Norman in Lincoln County, Denver is a town of a little over 3,000 residents. This family-friendly community is an ideal location for anyone looking for a more laid back, rural setting with easy access to city life.

History

Denver, North Carolina has an interesting history in that it is the site of The Battle Of Cowan’s Ford, which was fought during the Revolutionary War on February 1, 1781. In 1873 the town was renamed Denver after having been known as “Dry Pond” for almost 100 years. When the Catawba River was dammed in 1964 creating Lake Norman, the town became a lakefront location. Although the town was officially incorporated in North Carolina in 1877, it lost this status in 1971 and has remained unincorporated. However as the nearby city of Charlotte has experienced tremendous growth in the past few decades, smaller towns such as Denver have developed as well. With many families and businesses moving to the area, Denver would be a great place to settle.

Lifestyle & Area Attractions

Living in a quiet lakefront town, Denver residents can enjoy everything that the beautiful Lake Norman has to offer: swimming, boating, fishing, and so much more. Denver Baptist Mountain Bike Trails is another great spot to enjoy a walk or do some biking. Although it is a small town, there are a variety of restaurants including Daddy K’s BBQ, a local favorite for southern cooking. This growing town is also home to various festivals and celebrations throughout the year, such as an annual community holiday parade and a three day fall festival called Denver Days. Denver’s location makes it convenient for a fun weekend getaway with the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains being only a short 2 hour drive away.
